About the Artist

Amanda Elam is an artist and photographer dealing with the complexities of mental health, illness and wellbeing in her work. Through a hybrid photographic/painting/sculptural practice she investigates the psychological space of a person to create abstract portraits that represent the emotional intricacies of the human mind. She was awarded the Yousuf and Estrellita Karsh Prize in Photography from the SMFA in April 2016.

 

 

Amanda Elam is a currently based out of Providence, RI. She received her Master's in Fine Art from Tufts / The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in 2016 and her Bachelors in Fine Art from Brooklyn College in 2013.
